The good ol boys like their pick-em-up trucks made by the big three. If its gonna suck gas like, it better be an AMERICAN gas sucker!

I'd like to see what the fiqures are like on big pick-ups alone among the big 3 and Toyota.

I don't know if American trucks sold any better, considering the combined effort of GM, Ford, and Chrysler were down way more than Toyota by themselves.

Interesting article though as I liked the Tundra's, but they are just too damn big!!! My 4x4 Tacoma DC is big enough and feels massive once I switch back to the S!

Saw some dealership ads in the paper recently showing Tundras for significantly less than Tacomas. Tundra ownership would still be more expensive after a few years, but it's a great deal if that's what you're looking for.

And for what it's worth, Honda truck sales seem to be down just as much, but made up a much, much smaller proportion of total sales so it's not really hurting them.

Oh I am sure the big three sales are down huge too, but the few tradespeople I know are of the "buy american" mold.

But it was a pretty big miscalculation by Toyoat although with $15k profit per unit, you can see why they would do it.

This speculation that sales of truck will rebound, sure a little, but back to what they used to be? Not unless they get the milage way up. Anyone notice how now that oil has dropped quite a bit we are still just below $4 a gallon .

Up $.75 from a year ago. I am not a conspiracy guy, but I think its pretty clear the oil companies/producing countries have figured out they can spike the price, then let it settle down a bit but still well above what it had been and the masses just breathe a sigh of relief even though they just jacked up the price per gallon 25% from the previous year and we all say "Thank god it is below $4, whew!."

We are a bunch of sheep.

All this oil stuff will go away once our bugs that poop oil become commercial. But just thinking about the use of fossil fuels in general is pretty lowtech. We'll get onto hydorgen and all electric vehicles soon.
