Default TSX timing chain

my dd 2004 tsx threw a code for timing chain/cam sensor etc...drove it to work...left work wouldnt start...well it did but it was like it was running on 2 cylinders or out of gas...wouldnt go above 2500rpm or so...it got towed and the shop says they are going tio replace the timing chain (800!!??!!)

now i hope it just jumped a few....would it even start if i was broken chain? or bent valves...???

i need help please!!

If it was a broken chain you wouldnt start at all. It could have jumped a few links, but that would most likely mean your tensioner is bad/timing chain is bad. If the chain jumped enough links, and the engine is a interference type (probably is, right? its a honda for crying out loud..) then you might have bent valves, but I doubt it did if you didnt hear loud clacking noises...

That is a bulletin not a recall. I work at acura and have seen several TSX's jump time due to a stretched chain(most over 100k). its not common but it does happen. the appropriate action for acura is to replace the chain and tensioner. if your car started and it ran even just a little bit you didnt bend any valves . I cant see a motor running with that much retard on the cam. the motor is in a safe mode due to the cam and crank sensors being out of phase. hope this helps.
