The TT version won't pass Japan or US emissions standards anymore. It cost $45,000 new in 1998. Account for inflation and it would be well over $50,000 today. For almost $10,000 less, a C6 corvette would destroy it in every performance category.

A lot of the cost of a car is all the engineering that goes into it which has already been done. I don't think it would be cheaper than it was ten years ago, but any estimates from us as to what the price would be would be speculation.

Sure the C6 would beat it for even or less money but people buy lots of cars that cost more and deliver less than the C6. It depends on your taste in cars and your bank account. Some people just LOVE those things. Look at the prices used one go for. I like em but like lots of other cars better.

The question is whether or not they couls sell enough to make a profit, but has it ever been done in history of auto manufacturing that someone brought back the same design that had been discontinued? And I don't mean that the design was bought by another company and sold as a kit car or weekend racer kind of thing, I mean major manufacturer.

You could make this arguement for lots of cars with a cult following, what about a gen 3 rx7? They could stamp those out and sell them for sub $35 I bet given what they produce and sell an RX8 for.

Why dump a bunch of $ into R&D on a new one when they can just start pumping them out almost exactly as they were 7 years ago and make a bunch of $.
a few of the main reasons for discontinuing the supra were because of the amount of money it takes to produce those turbo motors; thus raising the msrp to nearly $45000. declining sales, plus expensive motors = one of the best imports to be sold in america, dead.

I think BMW should rerelease the M1. Body design would still sell today.

The 93-98 supra would probably cost $50-55K today. It is just too expensive.

The supra was really popular back then, too. It was just too expensive. F&F kids don't have that kind of cash.
Actually the Supra wasn't popular. It sold a little over 11,000 cars in it's entire existence in the United States including the normally aspirated models.

BMW built 450 M1's in 1979-1980. An attractive supercar that I believe would still sell today. Especially if you dropped the V10 from the M5 into it!
