From the article: it's unlikely to be called Supra
I like the idea of a mid-engine awd hybrid with electric motors up front and the ICE mounted in back as a sort of halo sports car.
But I'd rather they did a more minimalist sports car: take the FR-S/BRZ, move the engine and front-seaters aft about 20" (losing the back seat of course): instant sub-2800 lb. 2-seater 50/50 (or better) sports car! H4, turbo H4, H6, turbo H6 possibilities ranging from 200hp to 450hp. Call it "Supra", call it whatever, just do it.
Of course this won't happen, but it would be cool...

Under $60K for a higher-performance version of a car with a GS450h drivetrain? That car is already $60K base price.
Sounds like the NSX drivetrain, probably less powerful, but with a standard weight body. Cool idea, depending on how far they take it, but I don't know how well it would ultimately work in the segment. It almost sounds like a mini-GTR, which isn't such a bad thing if they manage to make the most of the drivetrain (ie, play to its strengths instead of trying to make it like everything else).
That said, I like ZDan's ideas much better.
