I would buy one, depending on the price. 2100 lbs is a winner in my book, doesn't really matter what it looks like. I had the initial reaction that it was hideous but have warmed up to it since. I think they call it "cheap and cheerful" across the pond. Front mid engine, super low weight, rear wheel drive. It's what you all have been asking for....

It's supposed to be a modern take on the Toyota Sports 800, which tbh, was kind of ugly too but I think they did a pretty good job of re-creating it.

That is exactly the kind of car I was thinking it looked like. Good find.

Glad Marioshi got to it before I did. Total retro-nod to mid-60's Japanese design. I like it. If it can smaller and cheaper than FR-S, then it should move some units.

You wouldn't try and grab potential advertising revenue?

It was ugly and quirky 50 years ago - looks like nothing has changed. It looks like a newborn 2000GT.

And I'm thinking a Mini mated with a Juke...

So they are making a car that's probably slower and way uglier than the FT-86 to compete with the new Miata that is actually faster and better looking than the FT-86.

I feel like it could be slightly restyled and then be tolerable.

Apparently.

Again, I think this would sell in Japan, but here is would have even more limited appeal than the Miata unless it got a bigger engine than the quoted 130hp.
