That $29K in Japan equates more to about $24K-$25K here, so that's a pretty good price.

Lots of subaru boxer engines are going ka-boom. Not sure of all the details but maybe someone who owns an wrx/sti can comment. I hope they really take a look at this before production time.

Good news......... but reallly Im just getting anoyed with the whole yes its coming out soon, no were not making it at all, wait changed our minds were making it in 3 years; Toyota knows a thing or 2 about

The engine is solid, it just has not evolved at all in years, which is why it is an odd choice. My 06 STI got 23 MPG max stock, and closer to 20 MPG when pushing it, which is getting to be a tough sell when a 400+ HP mustang GT gets like 26 MPG highway.
If they took the setup, added forged pistons, made it direct injection to improve mileage, then you would have quite a nice car with how the FT-86 looks, but I know that is just in my dreams
