Default Toyota and BMW to move forward with FT-1 concept

Great news!

Cooperation on the underpinnings of the vehicles "has moved on to the concept phase and is running according to plan," Munich-based BMW said in a statement to Bloomberg News. A technical feasibility study that began in January 2013 has been "successfully completed."

I can't imagine it's actually going to look like:

But if it does, wow!

This could be a marriage made in heaven. A car with BMW performance and Toyota reliability? Yes, please!

I just wish one of these projects was a mid-engine car. Supra/BMW will be $60k most likely. An MR2 with BMW's 2.0 liter turbo could be much cheaper and would be and awesome car.

Still, I am excited to see how this car turns out and what it will cost.

That car looks so good; I really hope they can put something just like it into production.

Does anyone know why they're partnering with BMW?

Because they lost all their creativity so they are relying on other companies to provide it (see BRZ)

See these guys, do they look like they know how to make a fun car?

No, they know how to make money.

Yes Toyota knows how to make money, but they also know how to make what people want, FRS BRZ. I'm not looking forward to working on a German engineered power-plant though.....I left Audi for a reason.

Yes, they had Subaru design a car for them that has been met with moderate enthusiasm but they haven't done anything with it since despite being on its third model year. Where is the drop top? Where is the increased power? Where is the STI version?

One good car in 10 years does not a solid case make. Toyota makes 8 types of hybrid/EV cars, don't try to sell me on them being some sort of enthusiast based company because they brought in one under-powered sports car to try to prop up their dying Scion brand. If they pull this off with BMW and it turns out to be anything decent and does not cost way too much then we can talk...

"Make what people want"

Huh?! You mean the 250+hp version of the FRZ that the automotive community has been screaming for for the last 3 years? Except, oh yeah they didn't.
