why on EARTH they put the 1ZZ engine in it is beyond me, they could have slapped the 2ZZ engine in it, just like an Elise, and had a winner (maybe)
Seriously, I've seen a couple guys track cars with that engine swap done and it turns it into an amazing car -- a poor-man's Elise. Unfortunately, as you say, they decided to make it a less-practical and more expensive Miata.

Seeing the Toyobaru with the S2000, my response is, not bad! The hoodline looks very low!

Seeing the pic with the GTR, it seems OBVIOUS to me that the Toyobaru is a MUCH MUCH smaller car, with a MUCH lower hoodline.

It REALLY makes the GT-R look like the gargantuan behemoth it is.

Can't wait for this car, hope it meets my small/lightweight expectations!

It is definitely a sexy concept!

I think everyone that says 2600lb is a dreamer. We're all logical here. List off all of the cars out there that currently weigh that much. All of them are front wheel drive. It must be very cost prohibitive to make a 2+2 that light, RWD, and be able to handle power. Even a Porsche cayman weighs 28XX.

We should all be lucky if this car comes in less than 3,000lbs

I love it!!! Lets hope all the good stuff doesn't get lost in the "concept to production" phase.

Oh really?

"Overall, the median age of the Scion driver is 30, the youngest in the industry."

This is the first Toyota that has even interested me in years. Carpliances aren't for me and this looks to have some substance.

I'm certainly intrigued but there is still a lot of info that needs to be revealed. I'm also hesitant because the design doesn't really distinguish itself as anything other than a sporty two door. When you look at the S2000 you KNOW it is a sports car. I'd say this is more akin to a Civic SI.

Still, quite intriguing...

Maybe I misssed something, but what I read into it (at a quick glance) is that they're just using Subie engines, not producing w/ Subie as was orignally planned. It just wouldn't be a Subie w/ rwd!

The boxer engine produces a lower cg for better handling/lower hoodline, and produces a unique, cool sound.

I love it!
There are 2 versions. A subie version and this toyota version. Think of it like the Pontiac vibe and toyota matrix. Essentially the same car. As to which country will get which version...
