While the toyota version will look good, sadly no matter what happens the subaru design will look ugly.....
What makes you think there will be a Subaru design? As of now, the public plan is to go w/ a Toyota only, as the original dual-branded idea fell apart.

Subaru is very big on promoting the fact that every vehicle they sell is awd. Don't hold your breath waiting!

actually the targeted car was the DC2 and DC5 Type-R and they were 2600 to 2700lbs but if its lighter many will welcome it.
Gotta adjust for weight inflation, lol. Hopefully it'll be well south of 3000lbs though.

Overall, I like the concept, but I think it's going to be a pretty good sized disappointment. The base model will weigh at least 3200lbs and with 200 HP...that is very unexciting. I'm not holding my breath on this one.
I'm with you. The days of sub 3k lbs cars are more-or-less gone. It's also toyota, the car will probably have (as you mentioned) 200ish hp at the most. Let us remember, they arn't exactly big on making fun / fast cars now.

"Sources indicate, however, that Subaru's executives are far from sold on the project. The Toyota-designed platform may not be able to accommodate all-wheel-drive, a signature Subaru feature. And parent company Fuji Heavy is reportedly hesitant to share its technologies with rival Toyota. "

Purported renderings - LOL.

Take off the Toyota badge and you swear you were looking at a Mazda.
