Default torbocharging a Dodge Viper

I was looking around, and saw that you can get a Viper with under 20k mi for about 25K
This sounds like a great deal, especially since you can get 600, 800, or even 1000 hp out of them, with turbo kits
Vipers are cool enough as they are, but driving a 800hp beast sounds wonderful

what year viper is best for turbocharging? I heard that some year's motors are better for this than others.
anyone have info on this?

I'd like to get a used Viper, and drive it around. Then, if I feel that I need something as fast as my bike, I would like to have the option of FI.

I love my S2000, and plan to keep it forever, but it just lacks the torque. Driving it after riding a bike is less than fun. Ideally, I want to have a car that pulls comparably to a bike (yeah, impossible... i know)

so what year Viper?

Thanks!

Viper prices have crashed as of late. I was looking at some of the auction prices and I was tempted to pick one up as a weekend toy.

I wouldn't want to mess with a turbo on one though. I drove a lightly modded one on 3xx drag radials and it was pretty sketchy. I can't imagine what would all go into getting a turbo one to hook up. I think that motor can take a 200shot of nitrous.. Why not save some $$$ and go that route?

Check on the Viper boards. Somewhere between '96 and '99 or something have better internals for forced induction.

So wait, is the OP right? I am not even going to pretend to know about Viper prices, but $25k for any V10 with under 20k miles is crazy talk to me. You can't even get an 03 Cobra, or barely a stock Evo 8 for that with those miles.

EDIT:
No Shit!

This seems like a bad idea. A 1000HP Viper would be almost impossible to drive (safely) on the streets. If you want that kind of performance go out and get yourself a 1000cc sportbike.

I was under the impression the 98-01 viper GTS had forged internals or somewhere around those years.

Did you even drive a stock Viper yet?
You think it's fun driving around town in a 1000HP Viper, eh?
Not to be disrespectful, but that much power + RWD + no traction control = recipe for disaster.

In my humble opinion, those 1000 HP vipers are just a dyno queen.
For me, 500 HP is enough to get me killed.

Dan
