Tire suggestions for A4 Avant
Hey guys,
I'm looking for some good tires for my 2006 A4 quattro. The car came with Pirelli P6's on it and I'm looking for some good replacements. I live in Florida so they don't need to be all-season tires, but I'd like to get a tire that has a good life to it. Any suggestions? I would also like to spend as little as possible, not looking for anything fancy, but nothing poor quality.

I like my Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires on my IS350. It came with the Potenzas OEM and I hated them. The grip was so so and they didn't last long at all. I bought Pilot Sports after those. I'm a Pilot freak. Once the OEM tires wear out on my car I put Pilots. I was sort of disappointed this time since they seem to ride somewhat stiff. I'm guessing it's the hard sidewalls. They were somewhat loud aswell. I must be getting old because I never noticed both gripes before. They grip like no other but I'd give up a little handling for a better ride and noise. The guy at Discount told me about the Dunlop SP Maxx. I was a little weary, I had SP's on my Supra 10 years ago and they were horrible, but being about $400 less for a set sold me. I can not be happier. They are quiet and the ride is much smoother. They may not grip like the Pilots because they start to complain at the limit, unlike Pilots which slowly break loose with no noise. I really don't care about being at the limit all the time. I rarely do these days anyway. Give it a shot, I hope they come in your size.
PS I put some Good Year Eagle F1's on the Jag and they have a good balance also. Since the A4 and IS are about the same size I just gave you info on the Dunlops.

A good medium to low budget tire is the Falken Ziex 912. I believe it is an all season tire but it performs very well in the dry. Tread wear is near 360 so look for an average of 12,000 miles of city driving, give or take depending on your driving habits.
I used to autocross my budget Miata with these tires and they felt great. In the rain, they performed well considering I took extra precautions because it was wet. With your quattro, these tires should perform in every catagory and fit your bill nicely.

I've had very good luck with Firestone Wide Ovals. Check them out. A lot of tire for the money. Good stick, nice response and it looks like they are going to last for a while. Good in the rain and relatively quiet.

for cheap decent tires i like to use Hankook V12 or Federal 595 both those are roughly equivalent and are very inexpensive. Also sumitomo HTRZ-3 are very inexpensive and a popular pick on this forum for s2000s.
