Time for a bike again
I know this is a Honda site (I have an '01 S2000), but I'm looking at a new bike and Honda doesn't seem to have what I want right now. Anyone have an opinion about the '07 Yamaha FZ-6? Thanks.

The Honda 599 is comparable to the FZ6 but it has less wind protection yet is a little more refined overall. More expensive, though. They redesigned it for the UK this year but I'm not sure if they're bringing it to the USA.
The FZ6 is a good used buy - they're readily available in the $4K range, even only a year or two old. Don't buy a new one - waste of money.
Also consider a YZF600R - it's sportier but quite comfy, has a proven engine (pretty much bulletproof), and they're in the $4K range as well. It's carbureted but it's a well-rounded bike and great to learn on.

if I was you I would get the 2007 YZF-R6.. it's liquid cooled, 4-stroke, forward inclined inline 4 cylinder, DOHC, 16-titanium valves. It's a hott looking Bike.. Or the 2007 YZF-R1 but that's alot of cc if your a new rider

Perhaps you should clarify your riding experience. People are telling you to get some pretty serious bikes and we don't even know how long you've been riding.
Since you were considering an FZ6, I assumed you were fairly new to bikes or do a lot of commuting. An R6 or CBR600RR is a fun bike but not exactly a commuter for most people. They're also fairly poor first bikes for a new rider unless they're very mature, very conservative, and smart enough to know that the bike is way more than they can handle for at least six months to a year.

600 is still alot and a pretty big bike for new rider dude. Yea you can start on it, but theres no way you'll learn how to be a good/safe rider by starting on it.
