I am just happy for GM that they finally designed a good-looking car, one that does not share its interior design and parts w/ its minivan cousin.
What remain to be seen are its handling and overall quality, before anybody can say if it's a home-run. Thus far I give it a double.

check out http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=360 for all the info.
It will be under 3000lbs and have 177hp 170tq in base trim. so to answer your question it will go head to head with the miata. The gxp model and saturn equivalent the redline sky will be fierce competition for the s2k and others.

New miata has those power numbers at 2400 pounds.
Regarding the guesses about the cars' stats on this thread -- both GM and Mazda have published specs, so there's no need to speculate on the numbers.

160HP/2400lb > 177HP/2900lb IMO.
even if they weigh the same, 160 and 177 are not all that different. I bet they dyno within 5HP of each other!

Remember the RX-8? Last gen Miata? Overrated moderately, though maybe Mazda has learned this time around....

3200 is a bit on the high side. I think I'd still buy one though. I think the S2000 looks hot, but it doesn't look Solstice hot.
