$52k or $49k for the Z06 doesn't make much difference. I'm just responding to honda606's assertion that the S2K depreciates more than the Z06. I don't believe this is true.

That's about 29% depreciation. If a 2001 S2000 depreciated that much it would be worth less than $24k. There's no way you could get a Honda certified 2001 S2000 with similar miles for that price. It would be more like $28k.

Z06 values are also likely to take a dip when the C6 debuts.
This is somewhat unfair comparison...
2001 Z06 msrp is $50k ($51k is for 01 and $52k for 03)... There's a margin
of $6500 over invoice.

Z06s are also heavily discounted... a lot of them sold at $2000 to $3000 over
invoice (unless you're in socal) ... calculating from $43.5k invoice adding 2500
then you get $46k... at $37, it is a 20% depreciation...

S2000 on the other hand... sells at over msrp... probably 1000 to 2000 over...
taking 1500 over... you'll get $34... with 20% depreciation... $27.2 for used
01.... sounds about right?

I don't think a TT or S/C Z06 will touch a 3 rotor RX-7 with a T78 ot T88 turbo.

Sure it does...assume a $41K sales price => 14% depr. off $49K, 19% off $52, not to mention $3K+ real money in the seller's pocket.

What I meant was whether you assume a new price of $49k or $52k, used car transactions in the market for both cars don't indicate with significant confidence that the S2000 depreciates more than the Z06.
