Normally, I'd say it's none of my business, but since you asked, I'll chime in. I think you're gonna get killed if you are only planning on keeping the car for a few months. A very bad financial decision. I don't think it is totally unreasonable to speculate that you could lose as much as $10k. I am basing this figure upon a sales price of $45K and a trade-in value of $35K. This estimate may be a little high, but I don't think it is totally unthinkable. I, personally, would never risk such a loss for a few months of ownership. If you want to drive something else cool from time to time during the next few months, perhaps you'd be better off renting something from a high-end rental outfit for those days. Just a suggestion. Hell, you could take a nice, 2 week vacation for $10k. So, my $.02 worth is that you should not buy the vette if you are planning on keeping it for such a short amount of time.

Well, comparing a 50k V8 350HP Corvette Convertible to a
60k I6 333HP M3 Convertible. I gotta say that the Vette is a
sweet deal as for Price/Performance, what a deal. But you get
what you pay for. The interior is just plan bad, things are falling
apart and there's like absolutly no ergonormics.
I have friends that own both the Vette and the M3. While you'll
pay more fot the M3, It's totally by far a better car. I lost my
respect for the Vette ever since they ditch the ZR1.
Well, here's a reason that I would totally spend 10k more to get
the M3.
Call it CONVERTIBLE.
With the Vette, you'll have the hold down both windows buttons
down to bring down the 2 windows, then you unlock the top
locking mechanism, then you HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR,
OPEN THE TRUNK, MANUALLY BRING THE ROOF DOWN INTO THE
AREA BEHIND THE REAR SEAT. Then you have to get back into
the car.
No, with the M3, you'll press ONE BUTTON the bring down all 4
windows at the same time. then you press ONE BUTTON, and the
roof will unlock and the whole roof will automatically go back.
If I were you, I will get a 35k Audi S4. You are looking at a V6
250HP Turbo, and with AWD.

I think most of us are trying to figure out what the hell kind of car you want. Cool? Fast? Status symbol? why are you only gonna keep it a couple months?

I have already decided what car I want- the only thing I wanted to know was if anyone had had any first-hand experience with a c5 vette and how the resale would be. Both of these questions have been answered for me. Thanks.

What car did you decide on if you don't mind me asking? If I were you I would definitely go the Z06 route but buy used for sure because ANY sports car, especially a GM, depreciates like mad right off the lot. You can get a used 02 Z06(405HP) with under 10,000 miles on it right now for around 38,000-40,000. You can't beat that in my opinion. Let someone else take the depreciation for you. LS1's and the LS6's that come in the Z06 are bulletproof built motors. Aside from the problems some of the 01 Z06's had the 3rd Gen LS1 has been extremely reliable. Then again the 0% going on right now is so very tempting. I have actually pondered selling the S2K(already!?) and getting a Z06 with the incentives that are taking place. More than likely will not end up doing that but have considered.
