I'm considering a TL to replace my Passat...'07 or '08. Best of luck on your decision.

So I checked one out a few days ago, I didn't even get a chance to drive it cause my dealer was with another customer but I've decided that the TL is not for me. I might just keep my car for now...RWD is always a pain during NJ winters but I love the car for all it has to offer and I've managed for the last few years, so I should be fine.

Thank you to everyone that gave their input, honesty is always the best policy

FWD is just as bad. I went from a Supra to a Mazda 6 and it was a nightmare in poor weather. FWD you get the one wheel wonderspin every time you try to accelerate in snow... at least with rwd you feel it more and it's easier to modulate.

The worst is if you have people in the car. I was driving around 3 people in the rain and the added weight over the rear wheels meant at every stop sign with a slight grade my front tire(s) was spinning.

That's not an '05! That's '03 or older.

Can't wait to buy a new TL AWD. It'll be my first AWD family sedan; should be very good in the rain.

The 2nd generation TL's were, but not the 2004-2008 models. I've been on their forums for a few days now and they're not known for anything like that.
That's crazy, my only experience with them was my Dad's '99 TL that he sold earlier this year. It had 200k miles, he replaced the tranny at 160ish, not really problematic IMO, glad to hear he got a good one.

I'm going to disagree with you there. Maybe in a car with more power it would be worse with FWD but my Acura TSX was amazing in every condition I put it through in a year of ownership. As far as reliability through the seasons, I would take FWD over RWD any day, but it's just not as much fun

I'm sure the new TL rides very nice and the AWD will be great for year-round driving, but again this goes back to personal opinion. I would never want a new TL for looks alone, but if you're okay with it then make the purchase

[QUOTE=common reactor,Nov 2 2008, 08:45 PM] I appreciate all input but I honestly don't like the new ones.

It's a solid car. If you're willing to spend a few tho more though, you could find an 04' CPO w/ nav.

Unfortunately, if you're planning to trade the S2000, you might get less than usual, given the winter season we're entering.

Good luck!

yeah, go for the nav for sure, and the 6 speed, it is just a better TL with those only options available. sure 5% of the cars have both, but a greater % have one or the other...the nav is easlier to find and well worth it.
