I feel however that the new m3 that comes out will make the e49 m3 depreciate in value quite quickly.

lamvu,
it's one of those things in life...you gotta pay to play.
you want a car now? or 2 years from now?
what's the opportunity cost of enjoyment for 2 years?
for me, it's very high....
i JUST bought an E46 M3....even knowing that a new one is around the corner.

Cool car. I would love to have one as a daily driver.

I too went from a S2k to an M3. I picked up my 04 M3 back in Feb and love it. I bought mine with higher mileage (now biting me in the ass for trying to sell it), but my is CPO'd til 2010 so if I can't sell it I will just keep it and extend the maintenance package and know i have an amazing car for many years to come! I also am not worried about the new M3 when it comes out. Its a completely different beast and i personally think the E46 is the last of the true BMW's with the true styling. Never been the biggest fan of the new stylings of any BMW.
