I owned '01 LeMans Blue for 2 year and that car was a beast. The only mod you'll need on that car is a short shift kit and you are all set. If you have an opportunity to get one do it, as they've become quite a bargain in the used car market now.

IMHO, the E39 M5 is one of the best cars ever made. It does EVERYTHING right. In my experience with BMWs (which is pretty vast), as far as BMWs go, that has been the most reliable out of them all. Amazing car. One of my friends has that exact one (Le Mans blue with black interior) and that car is a blast.
If you find a minter, dont hesitate to pick one up. Fantastic cars. I recently drove the new M5, and would take the E39 over it in a heartbeat.
