IMO, I think this is a bad financial decision.

As for the Honda Fit, doesn't it cost more than the 8 yr-old 330 to begin with? Then, another beater would have to be purchased to preserve the Fit that preserves the 330.

 

Yes, I need a Fit because I'm that concerned with gas consumption.

Besides wanting to preserve the mileage on the 330Ci, that car is not very practical as a daily driver- not as impractical as, say, the Z4, but it is to a certain degree. The car would face expensive maintenance and repairs as the miles climb. My previous daily driver, a 528i, had generous space (and it was already worn and torn by my dad), but it was expensive to maintain and repairs. I sold it to get a Japanese car of the similar size (I30, TL, ES300, etc).

The Infiniti would be much more practical (four doors, more room in general, and better comfort), and it would be much cheaper to maintain and repair. And that's if repairs are needed- I have a co-worker who has a 1996 Maxima with 220,000 miles, and all he's ever done are oil changes, tires, battery, radiator, etc. I plan to have it serviced at a Nissan dealership since it's almost identical to the 1995-1999 Maxima. I will also most likely give the Infiniti to my kid when he goes to college in about 2 years.
