Default Test Drove STI, kinda disapointed

test drove an 05 STI last night. Def more power than the s2000, at all RPM's. But the overall experience seemed to be lacking somewhat. Now granted this was a test drive with a saleman, and I did try to baby the car for the most part, and the freeways were kinda busy, but it wasnt what I was expecting. Was this just a onetime, bad experience? Anyone else feel the same way? I think I may have been spoiled by the s2000 driving experience.....

Maybe b/c it's a turbo, you really need to get on it. Maybe with the salses man you didn't get the true experience. Also a freeway is not a good test.

But I found the same thing when I drove my friends Dinnan Modified M3. It was faster than the S, but not more fun to drive. Something about a vert or the weight or the short wheelbase or the way the engine revs makes the S2000 very fun to drive.

s2k is more fun to drive. ( for me )

i sold my s2k because i ordered a lotus elise. test drove the elise and decided it wasnt as fun as the s2k. then went and look at sti and evo's.. still wasnt as fun as the s2k.

so now im back in another s2k. never going to sell my s2k again.. big mistake the first time.

Depends on how you define "fun."

The STi will feel like it has more power when you get on it. For a stock sedan, it goes like a raped ape. It does not, however, turn or stop like a sports car. The car is just not as agile as an S2000. It IS much more stable and forgiving than an S2000, especially on throttle.

Diffrent car. Maybe more fun. I dunno cuz the Subaru dealer refused a test-drive- the Honda dealer did not.

Regadless, Imprezas are ugly and I think I'd dread having to look at one in my driveway.

Of course, if I knew how fun it was, maybe I wouldn't dread having to look at one in my driveway but I guess I'll never know now, will I!

It's hard to match the S2000's combination of lightness, handling, speed, and high quality shifting! Honda did an awesome job on this car. The only cars I've driven that are more or equally fun to drive than the S2000 are my 911 and my neighbor's 360 Modena. I've driven the Evo, 350Z, E46 M3, 540i, SLK 32, Supra Turbo, Audi S4, and Boxster S. The Boxster S comes close though. I guess it's not all about speed.

Maybe in stock form. I have both STi and S2k... and although they are very different.. I love driving each for different reasons..

That being said. Mine is modified now and I can toss the rear almost as nicely as my S2k, therefore, I have just as much fun with it and more <since I can beat many cars at the stop light grandprix now >
