Lexus makes isolation chambers. To this point they have not made a real sport offering.
It surprises me that their bread and butter is nothing but a camry with more sound deadening that costs thousands more, but obviously it is working for them ...

Then again, that's what many people (read: old people) want in car. They will never need the driving experience of a BMW.

True, while i'm currently bored with the lexus brand, I really respect their reliability and the name that they've built for themselves. They make nice cars, just not "fun enough" for me.

I've considered a used LS400 or other Lexus, simply based on the fact that they are peerless highway cars with smooth rides. I checked LS400 repair costs via consumerguide.com, and it seems the older the LS, the more expensive it is to fix (speaking not just in terms of it being an older car, but in parts/labor cost). The 95-2000 models have particularly expensive suspensions to replace should they require it. By contrast, the 2000 and later LSs are practically Honda Civics by repair cost comparison.
The 90-94 cars in general had twitchy electronics. I used to work with someone who had a 92 ES300, and her dashboard lighting went out. If memory serves, even in the ES300 it cost her $1500 to have it fixed.
