If you like the stiff suspension, then find one with the Z51. Upgrades include different gear ratios on the TR6060 (1st through 3rd are steeper), additional coolers (oil cooler, etc.), different brakes, different tires, and different suspension, of course. Even though it's $1700, you'll get most, if not all, of that money back at resale because quite a few of the used car buyers will only want a car with Z51.

Go on Corvetteforum and see what is available. If you're willing to travel a little bit, you can get a better trade-in number and get the exact car you want.

Thanks for all the tips, guys.
Yeah, after driving that thing, it's hard to resist buying one. Especially with the great deals going on these days.
This was the very thing I feared when I went for a 'casual' test drive.
I was checking out the C6 to see what it's like, and next thing i know I'm talking numbers.

Mine is an '07 Silverstone w/ 14k miles.
They were saying $21,500 WITH the hardtop I have.
Does it sound like a fair price?

I can't believe how much it depreciated in a year and a half.

Dan
If can pull off the payments for a while I would sell privately. You could easily get 25k for an 07' with a hardtop. The 06' and up are Kraftwerks territory and pretty desireable.Shop around with the forum dealers on the Corvette forum,I've seen 2008 z51 1lt's going for 40k,you may have to travel to get it or pay to have it shipped but it would still be worth it.
Check out www.jeffhardy.com make sure you select 2008 Corvette's ,you can narrow your search by picking your model and options.Great site, gives you every Corvette in the USA that's available( dealers and locations) and is updated daily.

21k is high? What a joke! That's what any dealer is gonna do ...low ball your trade to jack up the price of the car they are selling.

21k is low with the hard top, 23k minimum for the hard top are you are on the verge of getting ripped off, not just getting a subpar deal. There are a lot of low mileage 06's going for 20-21k, 07's are only selling for a couple grand higher which makes sense given the very minor advantages over the 2000-2006 models and the floor on s2000's around the 13-14 level that has held for years.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm not a tracker, but I definitely dislike the soft suspension.
The base C6 suspension was more dialed in for comfort instead of sports mode, IMO.

I'm pretty sure that I'll get an aftermarket suspension at some point, so I'm not sure the brakes and the different transmission is worth $1700.

Dan
The Z51 is much better especially when coming from the S2000. Stiffer springs, different shock valving, bigger sway bars. It turns in and handles way better all around and the ride is not objectionable at all. Z51 gets you the suspension improvements along with, bigger rotors, slightly more aggressive pads, engine oil cooler, power steering cooler, transmission cooler, softer tires, more aggressive 1,2,3 and 6 gearing.
It is well woth the 1700 for the trans and oil coolers alone. IMO they should not even make a Corvette without the Z51 suspension.
