Here is my 2 cents. If you can afford 97+ model in EXCELLENT (very important) shape AND you are getting a bit tired of S2000, then go for it. NSX below MY97, IMHO, is not worth trading your S2000 in AND paying more cash. Sure it's possible to retro-fit the HID, 6-speed gear box, but we all know that's extra money out of your pocket.
For a brief moment, I, too, thought about trading my S2000 for a NSX pre-MY97...after a few months of "agony" and an advise from a former owner of a pre-97 NSX owner, I've decided to keep my S2000. The two cars are perfect in their own ways...I must have BOTH

I'll get one sooner or later, but the current finances dictate later. Maybe an old cheap miata for a convertible fix or something.
