google results - 1956 Jag. I'm not a Jag fanatic so I can't tell you much more than what google spits out at the moment.

It's been a while since Ive seen the movie, so I'm not really sure which XK it is, but if memory serves, I believe it is an XK 120. Jaguar came out with the XK 120 in 1948. It was really the first all-new post-war sports car. Incredibly advanced for its day and absolutely beautiful. It was originally built with an aluminum skin, but after a short run of aluminum cars, Jaguar started making the bodies out of steel. It had an aluminum 3.8L (I believe) DOHC inline six cylinder engine putting out upwards of 200 hp. I've read that the XK inline 6 is one of the world's all-time sweetest sounding engines. The "120" in XK 120 was the car's claimed top speed (pretty heady for its day). The XK 120 was eventually replaced with the XK 140, which was later replaced with the XK 150. All beautiful cars. I believe the one in the movie was an XK 120 because, as I recall, it had a split windscreen. I'm not sure about the XK 140, but I know the XK 150 had a single-piece windscreen. The XKs also debuted disc brakes, long before competitve marques, such as Porsche or Ferrari. The XK was eventually replaced in the early 1960's (1962, I believe) with the equally stunning E Type. The architecture of the 1948 XK inline 6 served as the basis for all Jaguar six cylinder engines until they were replaced with the current V8 in 1998. Amazing car.
