It's a fact that the sti runs a faster 1/4 then the wrx.
To the guy who said he drove an sti and it felt slower then his s2k? A bone stock sti can run a 13.2...s2000s are low 14s maybe on a rare occasion high 13s. Do you know what those kind of numbers translate on a race track? The sti would absolutely walk an s2000 based on those numbers alone.
Also what do you mean you wrx feels faster? What are the dyno numbers for both? That will tell you all.

What do I mean it feels faster... I just does, and not just a little bit. Turbo kicks in faster and car pulls harder longer. STI has more potential for sure but out of the box it's slower.
No, the sti runs a faster 1/4 mile time that is a fact. The sti traps higher speeds. The wrx hits 60 faster only cause the gear change and frankly 0-60 means absolutly nothing.
You will not find a published test of both cars where the wrx trapped a higher speed stock. Where are getting this at?

He was asking about new STIs, do a bit more research and you'll find that 09 up, WRXs run faster 60s and and faster quarters with higher trap speeds, period. Where am I getting this at, like I said, I've owned both. Why the hell do people who've never driven a freaking car argue with people who have... I'm not gonna waste my time copying and pasting links for you, try car and driver, road and track, etc... Also, you can go to Nasioc.com where just about every other owner the will tell you the same.

Well maybe you should waste your time reading what I posted before you comment. I have listed all years wrx/sti they includ newer models as well.

From car and driver: Considering that and the fact that the WRX will likely continue to be the quicker car to 60 mph—in our testing, the 2009–10 WRX hit the mark in 4.7 seconds compared with the STI’s 5.0—we think it’s tough to justify the STI’s $8500 premium.
I knew this when I first traded my WRX for my STI but thought just like you said that it was simply because of gearing. Now that I've owned both, trust me, it's not. The STI is just slower without a tune. Honestly, it feels like it has 40 horse less than my WRX even though it supposedly has 40 more. Clearly you feel the need to have the last word so feel free to argue some more, this will be my last reply. Honestly though, go drive both and maybe it'll sink in.
To the OP, congrats on the new ride, my wife had one and it's a great car and very underrated, just a shame it's Front drive.

I ultimately went against trading, I actually traded my S on a 2013 Accord and couldn't be happier.
The STI - Expensive, way expensive. $35k used, no thanks. Felt like a dog, whether it was actually faster than the S doesn't matter, it FELT slow and lastly, I knew that if I wanted to make it "feel" fast like my buddies 2012 Stage 2 WRX, the motor was potentially a ticking time bomb. No thanks, as my only car I needed it to be reliable, I couldn't have that with a $35k STI with unknown previous history. Pass.
So I bought an Accord and a 2012 Yamaha R1, best of both worlds.
