The SUV, finally dead.
George Pipas, Ford's top sales analyst, said SUV sales are probably down for good.
"Our view is that gas prices aren't likely to go down, and more importantly, many consumers have moved on," he said. "We believe that the segment has merit for certain consumers but is not likely to rebound at any point."

So, will people finally stop buying SUVs, even if gas prices drop to say $3?

I hope so... I hate SUVs
Even if gas does miraculously drop to $3 I still think people wont buy an SUV because they might fear it will one day go back up again and theyll be screwed paying $100 a week and major depreciation...

i have 3 kids a dog and a wife, what the hell else am i supposed to put my family in? I refuse to buy a minivan.... and none of the wagons can hold us... so what is worse... taking two cars everytime we want to go somewhere or one car that holds us all when we want to go to the beach... or tow my car to the track and have the family watch????
However I am glad people are driving them LESS for the majority of them that have one child and a mom in there at any given time.. I'll keep my suv as a third car for the family occasions...

I have no problem with "Work trucks" or "Weekend Toys" when they're actually used for their labeled intent. But all of you know that since this trend started it's been %90 single passenger idiots daily driving these monstrosities!
