I'm surprised, toyota just announced a monster recall yet not a single a single word. I find it odd because I find that this forum is quick to post. Then again I mightve missed it, if so I fail.

people getting in accidents because the floormats in their camry catches the acellerator pedal. i can't think of a more boring issue.
it is sad that it has killed people, but i really can't believe that the guy didn't figure out to stop the engine or yank the floormat free

It is the the all weather floor mat, not the standard carpet. Most other aftermarket carpets have the same problem too. But you don't see them being recalled either since they don't have the clip holes.
I think it is more consumer fault than the carpets themselves. I see people installed their carpet's edge next to the pedals. Why don't people just install the carpet pushed against the firewall?

I only support this recall because one of those Toyota drivers who can't actually figure out their floor mats, or how to press the brakes and take the car out of gear might hit an innocent child on the side of the road.
Somebody did think of the children!

Well... It was a cop being killed that caused this recalled. If a cop cannot figure out how to remove a carpet from an accelerator, I wonder how qualify they are in enforcing our laws. No wonder why they are concentrating in writing tickets and called it public safety.

What an excellent chain of logic.
And do you know how many cops are hanging around in CA streets hunting down speeders? I guess you don't know since you are in Italy?
I am seeing about 5 CHPs writing tickets on my morning commutes on a daily basis. Arnold needs his army to get back some state money without raising taxes.
