Interesting, but does such a combo work for any application other than car show ooohs and ahhhs?

Some guy here in Phoenix has a Supercharged STI...with the stock turbo still on it. I can't say it looked like a very professional install however....

Im curious as to HOW that system would work... If you ask me, it doesn't seem like that would work right. First, where does the air comr into the blower? I seem to not be able to find the spot where it would go in. Also, in that position, at higher RPMs it seems like the Turbos would make more pressure than the SC, SOOO, wouldn't that mean that since all the pipes just simply meet some of the compressed air from the turbo would go into the SC...

Thats what I think from looking at this picture, of course, I might be missing out on something.

Other than that, it looks pretty

I dont really see any issues with SCing and turboing as long as the SC can stand the pressure from the turbo... all the engine cares about is what the MAP sensor tells it when it comes in...

Here's another likely problem:

If supercharging is speeding up the air, wouldn't it speed up the air to where the turbos either couldn't spin fast enough, or spun too fast and broke apart?

And wouldn't this increased pressure possibly crack some pistons or bust some connecting rods?

I suppose if there are two turbos the faster air wouldn't be as much of an issue, but one supercharger (with positive displacement no less) feeding one turbo, air speed might be a hindrance in some way. =

Toyota sold a supercharged and turbocharged MR2 back in the 80's -- not available in the U.S.

The concept has also been applied to over the road trucks.

I would think that the blower is there to "blow air" into the turbos for quicker spool......

the way it seems to be setup wouldn't work I think. I needs to have the turbos blow into the SC...

Sport Compact Car(?) has a project MR2(2nd gen) with a Solara V6 with a S/C and a turbo, and it seems to spool the turbo faster and only has a little more power. I need to find the article now.
