I've owned an '04 9R and it steered quickly but then the rear was slightly raised I think.
Who said you steer with your body weight anyway? It's all in the clip-ons dear boy!
Anyway, the comfiest sportsbikes out there are the GSX-R 1000s. You could go for the best road version a K3 or K4 but I preferred the K2 I had. I also had a K5 and have ridden the K7.
They all felt the same riding position wise and you can ride for 16 hours all day around the Alps if you wanted or were stupid enough.................
I toured through Europe on a K2 and did 4500 miles in 2 weeks and the previous year did it on a 929 FireBlade and the GSX-R is way more comfy.
Plus, when you open up a Gixxer thou, particularly K1-K6, you'll be amazed at the torque. Rear tyres will last you less than 1,000 miles though and so the best tyre combo for road use is:
Michelin Power 2CT front
Michelin Pilot Road 2 rear.
You'll get 5,000 miles out of a rear even riding really hard and the Power 2CT will wear at the same rate giving you the enjoyment of 2 new tyres each time rather than the mis-match you can get when they need replacing at different times.
DO NOT use the Pilot Road 2 on track though as it will overheat.
