Default Subaru Dealer pulling my willie....

I am in the market to buy an '05 Subaru STi from a dealer in Atlanta. This salesman told me that he has one on the lot for ~$34,000 plus a performance package and tinted windows. I've dealed with him down to 32k, but he wanted 32,770....fianl deal. The only catch is that the car has 200 miles on it!!! He told me it was brand new. I was like hell it is...I told him there is no car selling with more than 10 miles....the max is about 20. He said that Subaru tests there cars prior to selling....I smell BS.

Please tell me that I am right and he is money hungry

When I was in the market for the 05 STI, I got it down to 32K even w/out tax, tags. And it also had 200 miles on it.. But not to sure if it had the performance package and def did not have tinted windows

I used to work at a dealer in high school. When ever low volume highperformance cars came in, (you did not get many in a year) many of the sales people, mechanics, lot boys, etc have to take it out for a test drive and beat on it a little. That's your 200 miles.

If the car is supposed to stand up to a beating you should not worry too much because it will have a warranty. My guess is all the driving was in excess of recommended "break in " procedure.

We always made sure that any Vipers, or Shelby Turbo's were topped off with plenty of gas each week in case a customer wanted a test drive.

My biggest dissapointment was ferrying the owners V12 jag 100 miles for him to drop off somewhere. What a dog that car was.

Was pulling your willie part of the negotiations? Because I would counter with dinner, and maybe a little dancing first...

I was with my friend this past weekend to get his 350Z. The assistant mgr there tried to pull a fast one on us about the financed price, but nothing bad aside from that. There was this one sales girl who was OMG super damn my-zipper-just-broke hot!...I would've loved it if she pulled my willie!

200 miles sounds like a demo. Seems like the dealer is passing it off as FOB. I would pass on a "NEW" 32k+ turbo car with 200+ miles on it...

look for another one... 200 miles is not new new...
just tell him that you will either go to another dealer or wait for a new shipment...

they are not gonna wanna do that because dealships are all about control.. they want you to take that one and that one only...

make sure that you get to keep the numbers in writing somewhere if you decide to wait for a new one... they might pull the "oh, we can't find the numbers" thing and start over in negotiations again.
