Subaru AWD compared to others
#11
Mitsubishi is supposedly coming out with some new advanced AWD system for the Evo X. I forgot where I saw it, but there was a video of two Evo VIII's, one with the stock AWD system(with ACD) and one with the Evo X prototype AWD. The test drivers all kept raving about how the Evo X AWD handled much better than the old system. I'm interested in seeing how things turn out with that, and exactly how they changed it.

Subie moves the power too - one reason Audi and Subaru are better than the others. Honda's SH-AWD I think works this way too, but its not really on any product. A SH-AWD S2000 would be interesting...
Mitsubishis have historically been fwd-centric awd cars - maybe Mitsu is going to a rwd centric setup.

of course that was all SUVs.
no GM or Fords in that line up? No Landrover? Hehe Landrover probably would have stomped the Subbies in those tests (especially the last one lol)

They are comparing the subi's other cars in the same category.
I somehow don't think the point of the test was to put a 30k suv up against a friggen 50k+ SUV.
For the price, you can't beat the AWD features the subis have
to subaru, we own one and its great; and yes we have driven it up in the adirondacks during winter so we can say from experience they are great in little to no traction areas

If you want to go to know how the subie's AWD system works, I'd suggest you go to a subie board. I know for a fact that the AWD in the manual wrx is true 50/50, and in the automatic it is 55/45 real wheel bias. In their other models it's different but the subies AWD in the wrx is great, especially in the STi.

I thought Audi got their design from Subaru?

my ex-GF had a Legacy GT turbo with MT, this was back about 10 years ago.
I don't know how they did it then, but that car was the most fun car I've ever driven in the snow.
