Skeptic, those pictures are of the real cars in Japan.
Pics of the real car?!?! Look at that grill and tell me that this is a done deal.

I agree with everyone, the specs and car look great, but I'm not believing anything until it comes from Toyota or Subaru. I've seen enough "NEW NSX, Supra and RX-7!!!" sketches to know that what shows up in those magazines is far from official.

so the toyota will look better, and the subie will be faster?

they had both better be priced in the high 20's or low 30's, or they just won't sell.

both look great. Hope they don't cheaper certain parts out too much and they make this baby's real game-changers. I have high expectations for both of these and look forward to seeing what happens with them

I still think Toyota will offer the turbo model too, and the only big difference [in the long run] will be AWD vs. RWD (and the associated weight and cost), plus the slight tweaks in the final packaging (cosmetics, accessories, stereo options, etc.)

At least I hope that's the case.

If it is, the choice for me would be simple: Turbo RWD Toyota. However, in a more HP/"tunability" and AWD vs. lighter, RWD [etc], the decision is a little more complicated!

My prediction

Toyota: N/A 2.0L, 180-220 hp, 2750 lbs, RWD
Subaru: turbo 2.0L (detuned JDM STi motor) OR 2.5L turbo (USDM WRX), 250-265 hp, 3100 lbs, AWD - Subaru priced around 5k higher

It would be pointless if they were not different in terms of character and price.

There was talk of two NA motors: a 2.0L and a 2.5L, and the last thing I read was the 2.5L (NA) would be in a slightly sportier chassis (larger fenders, etc.) and had only been suggested as a Subaru model[?]

At the time I read that, the hope was for the 2.5L NA package to offered in a turbo variant as well.

I like the idea of owning an AWD car more and more, so maybe I'd give Subie a try providing price is reasonable.

I'd rather buy the Toyota, but I gotta have boost. If that means getting the Subaru, then hopefully they'll include selectable rear bias....
