Yes, It doesn't say that it will cost $50k when sold in America, it says that the UK road-legal version sells over there for an amount equivalent to $50k.
I think that quote says the regular, non-street legal, version is $37k, but the street-legal version (I guess safety equipment was added) is $50k. I see why this car can be legal though, since ther are motorcycles with similar weight, acceleration, and displacement as this car. Here in SF, I've seen some small 3 wheelers and some weird carts that come and go once in a while. The limit may be that you can't take it to the freeway, and is restricted to local driving?

I really wonder how bikes can be legal yet a car has to have tons of safety devices to be legal. Canada gets screwed on so many cars because we need 8km/h bumpers instead of 5 km/h bumpers you guys have in the US, but bikes don't have to, STOOPID!

They were selling those 3 wheelers like crazy. Just the CEO kept stealing money from his company and private investors lost it all....
And yes, it is the same person that created Corbin Seats. Because they are different companies, investors had problem getting money from that other company.
I heard those were good cars until stupid CEO stop supporting them.

The law is totally hypocritical. Bikes are virtual death machines ( I lie) . The only issue with a car like this is it's low to the ground that you'd almost certainly get run over by that person in a Hummer putting on her makeup ...
Still, they should legalize it

but, I agree with you on the bike thing. A car like the Ariel Atom should be street legal simply if the same rules apply to it, that apply to a bike - IE: wear a helmet.

Well, the headline is "Ariel Atom: Honda-Powered Road-Legal Racecar." If it wasn't street legal, then why mention it?
