Strange encounter...
I went to Fry's, last friday, and, while I was parking, my eye fell on something that made me think I was home...
I parked besides a Ford Escort RS Cosworth!
For the guys who doesn't know what I'm talking about, take a look on this site for some data: http://freespace.virgin.net/iain.holt/html...istory/ecos.htm
Here for some pictures: http://www.rallycars.com/Cars/Cosworth/esc..._pictures1.html
The car was one of the dream rally cars in the '90's. A serious contender of the Lancia Delta Integrale on the road.
It was really strange to see that car in the US. Actually it had 2 license plates, one over the other. One seemed to be a british license plate, but the car had driver's position on the right side on the left... The other license was one from a northern US state, I don't remember.
It was the versione witout the big wing, which was an optional. I liked that car, and I stil like it again.
I felt as I was in Europe. Weird, isn't it?
Ciao

Some of the Ford Cosworth products were pretty impressive. I've never seen one in person, but the people I've known that have had the occasion to drive them really enjoyed the experience.

I've driven an old Sierra Cosworth rwd.
The car was a dangerous rocket. I mean, for the common driver in the 90's.
The turbo lag was sensible and the kick it gave you was brutal. So brutal that you had to be very delicate with throttle in a curve. Many of the Sierra Cosworth rwd were found with their side wrapped to a tree. That's why they made a 4wd version of it. A friend of mine has it now. It was very easy to mod, and there were not many cars stock, around Europe. The average power increase was about 100 hp without any major problem. Thus 305-340hp. In the early 90's on a sedan was pretty impressive. And amusing!
