Now this is my favorite answer by far :

would store it.. keep it rust free, its well worth it..
just pick up a winter beater, and count the days till u get to take it back out in the spring..

Look, no offense to anyone I know we all have difference perspectives etc etc -- but isn't the concept of storing one 1500 dollar car only to pick up another 1500 dollar beater a bit odd?

Anyway the thread gave me a chuckle -- and it shows you how similar the S2k guys are to the Cavalier folks -- the same question is often asked here and the answer is usually the same -- store it if you can afford it.
I'm sure the corvette, porche, lambo, and ferrari owners, etc.. feel the same about our cars

One of the poster's mentioned that he had to walk to work for a few days that his car was out of service, his girlfriend too......

I guess not everyone is as fortunate as some of us (as we think, even though the 911 owner next to you thinks the same as you think about the Z24)

i don't think that was his point
whether $1.5k is alot or not is neither here nor there
it's the fact that the beater will be of equal value to the "good"/stored car...quite odd
if the car was worth alot to them, then they should probally not be able to afford a beater that will of necessity be of equal (or greater) value

i'm surprised there is actually a cavalier forum though lol, and more so that people even care enough about the cars to post or desire to store them...very amusing

(but of course then I don't understand why people buy $40k cars and then buy a crappy beater so as to keep the good car in better condition...why have it @ all then?)
I knew what his point was, but it was a condescending tone...eh, nevermind! Please move on!

P.S. I don't think it's nearly as "silly" to store an S2000 in the winter and drive a beater car, e.g. an old Camry. S2000 makes a horrible winter driver in many parts of the country, and nonetheless, it is still more expensive than an old Camry. So conclusively, I don't think asking to store an S2000 is anything to chuckle at. I think if the Cavalier owner wasn't "poor", I presume, he wouldn't be asking that question.

I find the dumest part that this guy invested money on a new top and new paint job. A couple grand into a car that probably was worth less at the time.

I do know what it is like to love an old car and put money in when others think it aint worth it, but I don't know that I could put that much love into a cavalier.

And another thing..........he wants to store his Cavalier, and buy for a beater ANOTHER Cavalier. What happens if he falls in love with that one too. This guy could end up storing like a dozen Cavaliers. How crappy does the car have to be before it does not merit storage? Buy a rusty old Ford Fiesta for $50 dude.

um, I would never try to drive a convertible in the winters where I live. It has nothing to do with the "quality" of the car, it has to do with the ability to keep warm.
