Default Store your 10+ year old Cavalier for the winter?

http://www.v6z24.com/jbodyforum/viewtopic.php?t=72957

As you may know I have a 94' Z24 convertible. Its got 76k miles on it with a brand new top, brand new glass back window, brand new paint, brand new cooper cobra tires and absolutely no rust! I need to know if it would be worth keeping the Z off the road for the winter?

I can get a beeter cav for a couple hundred that will run good.

Now this is my favorite answer by far :

would store it.. keep it rust free, its well worth it..
just pick up a winter beater, and count the days till u get to take it back out in the spring..

Look, no offense to anyone I know we all have difference perspectives etc etc -- but isn't the concept of storing one 1500 dollar car only to pick up another 1500 dollar beater a bit odd?

Anyway the thread gave me a chuckle -- and it shows you how similar the S2k guys are to the Cavalier folks -- the same question is often asked here and the answer is usually the same -- store it if you can afford it.

What are you doing looking at Cavalier forums?

Get a beater car for a car that's only worth a few thousand? That car would be most peoples beaters. He'd have to get an Escort to qualify as a beater for a Cav (IMO).

But it's a Z24 convertible, those are rare. Not quite as rare as my '95 Pontiac sunfire GT teal/teal automatic, but a classic none the less.

Well, not everyone's a trillionaire like you, Steve. If the car is worth a lot to them (financially or sentimentally), then there's nothing wrong with preserving it. Likewise, the S2000 may be worth pennies to you, but to some people on here, it's worth a lot to them, hence they'd want to "store" or preserve it. So condescending!

I get yer drift Steve.

I used to own a V6 Z24 and I liked it. But even considering spending money to store a $1500 car for 5 months is a bit misplaced.

But if you think about it, someone has probably asked such advice about their mint-condition Yugo at some point. And compared to a Yugo, a V6 Z24 convertible might as well be a 911 C4S cabrio.

It's hilarious what stuff is stored. I frequent a local forum where guys are storing $2000-$4000 civics and cavaliers and taking the bus or buying $300-$1000 beaters.

Because 'yo dude my '90 civic is whack with it's wicked drop and huge wing.
