i don't think they are that's disconnected, come on, it still beats 90% of the car in the price range stock.

there's lot of assumption and myths to the STi, to say the least, both are great great cars, drive both before making the purchase.

look for the Evo if you like what you got in the Sti also, ugly, yes, cheap interior, yes but nothing squeeze more juice for that price.

but if i have to do it all over again, new/stock, i'll pick up an/a evo/sti
Well the steering felt a bit slow to me on 2004 STIs. Don't know if the new ones turn in better.

As for it being disconnected from the road, I just feel that the driving position and center of gravity of the car don't give me as much driving pleasure as a RWD coupe or roadster like the S2K can.

Yes the STI has great 0-60, quarter mile, lateral accel numbers and is very very fast on a track.

But in terms of how the car feels, from the steering, the shifter, brake pedal feel to the driving position, etc... I prefer the S2000 way more.

I almost bought an STI this year but opted to buy another S2K. I love STIs, but no matter how many times I drive the car and try to convince myself to buy one, it just doesn't feel as fun to drive as the S2000 even if it's faster.

I'm sorry to say, but I think the STI is a car that makes more sense for your purpose. I assume (which is almost always dangerous) that no one here can push a car to 95% of its limits for any purpose. I've been a die-hard S2000 fan forever and was not really been impressed by AWD (especially from what I've seen) until recently. As a DD the STI is awesome and I think I would personally have more fun cruising around in a STI than an S2000. I don't buy the "oh but it's way quicker and responsive in the turns" comments because I've driven great handling non-responsive cars before, the STI being one of them, and they are a hoot.

What makes a car great isn't a single aspect or overall package. You have certain expectations of a car and you should get the one that can hold up to those expectations the longest. If I got the S2000, I'd be ragging it in 4th gear down the straight and braking it to set it up for the next turn. I'd be doing the same thing in the STI but it would feel different, for better or worse. If I was driving around town, doing ocassional track, and taking road trips the STI would be the obvious winner. Sorry, but I'm over convertibles.

As cliche as it sounds, opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one. Get the one that you think you'll be happy to see in your garage 5 years from now. Only you know what makes you tick.

Cliff Notes: I would get a STI over a S2000 if I've owned both (platforms) before. But don't listen to me; YOU ARE NOT ME.
