BOOM!!!

There goes the tranny and the differential- all of them.
The tranny is strong on these, but my friend just blew out her rear axles lauching her STi! I think the diff broke too, and her car is completely stock.

I will bet that if tuned properly that thing will put down some staggering numbers. I would invest in a lot of heat wrap for that turbo though. Especially because the hot side is so exposed.

I know which MR2 you're talking about. It was a setup developed by HKS called a "TwinCharger" for the 1st-generation MR2. Sport Compact Car did an article on it back in the day. Here's a link to that same car from the article: http://www2.msstate.edu/~sgn1/MR2/mod/gsa.htm

Later, HKS prototyped another TwinCharger kit for the 3rd-generation Integra (it was on the burgundy-colored Meguiars/HKS sponsored Integra). Hmm, it must've cost a lot or did very little since it never made it out of the prototype stage.

BTW, that setup on the STi looks like a tuning nightmare. But I'm sure if enough time (and a whole lotta $$$) is put into it, that STi could be a beast.

Does anyone remember the Nissan Micra (aka Nissan March) Super Turbo? It was turbocharged and intercooled, 900 cc's of boosted fury.

There was also a similar compound fi article in Turbo mag on a second gen MR2. They explained the whole thing and it really does make sense.

Ya I've seen this guy at Pavilions before. It is kinda pointless, but I guess he can say he's the only one that has an STI like that.
