Sports coupes article
http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2011/...une/index.html
I think most of the cars they list are right on the money if not terrible cars that should have failed no matter what. But things like the Supra and Prelude don't see like they should be there. I mean a 23 years run for the prelude is pretty damn good when compared to many others. Thoughts?

I liked Sal Salzman's response.
"With all due respect, and that is diminishing rapidly with time, who on earth is responsible for automotive content on this website?
Coupes don't last very long? The longest lasting model in existence today is a sports coupe, the venerable Porsche 911.
Coupes are not about fashion, only a writer who has never owned or driven one will say that- they are about handling, speed, control, and soul"

BMW's 3 series coupe has basically been around as long as the 3 series (longer if you include the 2002 in the lineage).
Coupes are more fashion based than sedans but a Prelude like run is nothing to be ashamed of.

The author is confused. Some models cratered because they were not desirable. SVX? Looked cool on car lots but who bought one? Coupes have no market longevity? The long run of Nissan Z-cars just rolled over in their graves. As did the RX7's. Or the Integras (living on as RSX's). Or Mitsubishi DSM's (Eclipses).

That article was written by someone with no understanding of cars imo, much less Subaru and its product history (the SVX was the successor the XT and XT6, for example).
Somehow a 23 year run with the Prelude is a failure? Don't get me started on the cherry picking that's going on with that article either - classic poor journalism.

I tried to read it, but after having the Merc SUV video pop up each time I clicked through the obnoxious gallery style article, I gave up. Mustang, Porsche, Z, Corvette, Miata, calling the Prelude's stint brief? This guy is an idiot who found a few obscure examples to prove his point.
