Like the S2k, bolt ons are worthless. Intake and exhaust is there to simply change the sound. Most mods actually yield a loss in horsepower. The ECU is very fickle and adapts to the environment setting you back at square one at best, and a step back in some cases.
That's odd. Coming from a Celica GTS, I got +~20whp with bolt-ons and a tune. I know the Elise has a different ECU, but that must be the only thing holding it back if that's the case. The only ECU issue with the 2zz in the Celica was that it wouldn't respond to piggybacks because it always overrode them within a week or two. That's why I used an Apexi Power FC.

There are always the ecu replacements and superchargers/turbos for the Elise too.

Seeing as how you think bolt-ons are worthless for the S2k I'm guessing you might not realize the potential of a properly modded 2zz.

Yeah, it is only the ECU holding it back. It 'relearns' the environment and kills gains. You can swap out the ECU, but I haven't really researched suitable alternatives.

Only 1 pic at this point, but you get the idea I loved the look of the Exige, but wanted the soft-top option, so when I saw how this Elise was built up...had to have it.

Oh wow! You bastard. Hahahahaha, I just cancelled out the idea of me trading my S2000 in for a Lotus. Looks like I will have to rethink it over yet again thanks to this picture. Hmmm, maybe I should rent one out.

Beautiful car . I'm still considering either an elise, MK II audi tt or 335i for my next car when I dump my s2k sometime next year.
