Baby Ferrari!

How reliable are these? Any issues in the information that you have gathered?

I would love to get into one of these eventually for a weekend toy considering I only drive the s2k a couple of times a month, I can definately live with the elise.

I'm guessing you didn't know that you can take the top off of the Exige as well. Either way, your Elise is hot. You'll like this forum... http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/
I did know about the top being removable on the Exige, but getting the softtop to work with it is another story. The hardtop is not a quick on/off proposition, but the ragtop is, and stays in the trunk.

Elisetalk is a great site, and is where I found the car. Great info there and really helped me in making this decision. Great bunch of people on the board.

From what I've read and heard, pretty reliable. It's a Toyota 2zz Celica motor and tranny, and should hold up quite nicely. And if it should blow, not hard to find another. Don't need a lot of hp with 1900 lbs.

Just filled up my 2nd tank today, and got 30.1 mpg. That includes lots of "spirited" driving and freeway to work. The same circuit in my s2k usually resulted in around 24-26.

The Enterprise rental car place near me rents out Elise's for the day, which I did. It wasn't cheap, but was great in helping resolve whether I could live with the car. I did over 300 miles in a day and loved it. The biggest issue I've got is getting up and down driveways. The car is slightly lower and has the carbon fiber front lip....it's really low. I've dragged it a few times, but getting better at picking my spots.

very nice car
-earlier today i looked on autotrader.com and the lowest price was still $30K, still a bit too expensive to put on a track for me. locally here in denver klode.com, an insurance auction house had a sweet theft recovery that went for $15K, sad i missed that.

get a reference dyno run, aprox $30

great car

i will not switch till the price drops and they have not moved alot this previous year.

i can not justify taking an expensive car on a track, canyon road.

My plan is to use as a daily driver. On the rare occassions it rains out here, I'll drive my truck but otherwise in the Lotus.

Go test drive one, or better yet, rent one for a day. You'll know pretty quickly whether it'll work for you or not. There are tons of threads on the Elisetalk board about people daily driving, and many are doing 12k or more per year.

Maintenance costs are pretty high (it's kind of hard to work on), and the suspension components are a bit fragile. You can also expects a lot of creaks and rattles, but otherwise no big issues.
