I think what he means to say is that the dampening and spring rates were modified from the stock R8 shock, and still retain the stock shock body w/ all of audi's hoo-ha's

Was the XJ220 involved in the same special? Could have been an editing mistake as the cars from the same era and often used in the same specials....
