Slow F430 in the new C&D.

Can't wait for the $65k Z06 to work all of them over.
I really hope the Z06 can run 0 to 150mph in less than 19 seconds. Wow.

Great test, the Ferrari winning should give the mag racers a meltdown trying to figure out why.
For those that didn't read the article, the Ferrari was a privately owned car so they didn't beat the piss out of it. Also Porsche didn't have any cars to lend out, so the Turbo Cabrio was donated by the same guy who owns the F430, he is a Porsche dealer. The car did have the x50 package though.
The numbers show that any car can go fast these days whether it is the latest Italian mid engined exotic, a 4500 lb Merc roadster, or an blown v8 Ford. Once you're in this league, mear numbers are not enough-- they are all fast. How it goes fast becomes more important than how fast it goes.

That's a pretty inflamatory article if you ask me. I love the fact they were able to get all those sweet cars together at one time for a test, however straight line results do not tell the whole story (like THIS really needs to be rehashed!). I'm sure the Ferrari will get overcome by some other monster cars with more HP and more torque, but who the hell really cares? I'd love to see track times, skidpad, braking and slalom #'s for all those cars. I bet the F430'd whoop ass on all of them. It is a far more balanced car than the rest, especially the SL65. I love that car to death, but it's still a pig on wheels (4400lbs ).
This is all aside from the fact other publications have recorded 3.5 secs to 60 for the F430. There are too many variables in the different assessments to label the F430 as "slow." Given the choice, I'd still take the prancing horse over any of the others - by a wiiide margin. That's why I'm so glad to see it took the overall victory.

The Gallardo would be my first pic.
All wheel drive, Audi built for the most part..even though not as reliable as japanese but hell of a lot more reliable than italian.
When you have that much power having 4 wheel drive is what is going to save your ass out of a hairy situation.

All those cars are about 1/2 off best times I've seen in other mags. BTW I saw a F430 spyder parked out side my brother's condo, breathless is the best way I'd describe it, and when the owner started it up, my heart stoped. OMG, I want one soon, even in the grey color I saw was pure sexiness.

There is a guy selling his F430 Spider for list + $85K on the 6 speed board. When taken to task for it he said in LA they are getting +$125K over list for these things. CRAZY.

After reading the article it is clear to me now,
I will pick up a SL65 for a daily/highway duties. Yeah it's heavy but all the more remarkable that it hauls that mush ass.
And a Gallardo for track time/pimp time.
To me the Gallardo is more visually striking than the F430. Maybe its those huge ugly nostrils.
BTW check out the top gear acceleration of the SL65:
30-50mph 50-70mph
Sl65- 2.0 sec ! 2.3!
Lambo- 4.0 sec 6.2
GT- 8.7 sec 7.4
F430- 5.1 sec 3.7
911TT- 10.3 7.8
