I test drove an SLK350 and was appalled at two things: it's power delivery and controls are incredibly numb feeling, and the interior is very cheap feeling. I've always said that low-end Mercedes are awful for the money, and high-end ones are incredible -- the SLK definitely feels like the low end.
If you're looking for an S2000, but want a folding hard top and want to be insulated from the road, go right ahead. I'm not sure why anybody wouldn't buy a BMW 3-series hardtop convertible instead though.

You guys are smoking crack the SLK 350 is a beautiful car.
I always do a double-take when I see one pass me by.
It's aggressive yet classy.
Never driven one and I know it must not be as raw as an S2000, but that's not the point of the car.
And with the new 306HP engine it's pretty fast.
Very sexy car, especially in silver.
If it was mid-engined and 500 pounds lighter I'd get one

My parents have an 05 SLK350, they bought it about 3 weeks after I bought the S.
It is a cruiser, not the same raw sports car feeling that the S2000 gives you. The power hard top is nice if you plan on driving it often in inclement weather, but it really kills a lot of the trunk space for long drives.

My neighbors bought one of these around the same time I bought the S back in '07. His wife looks great in it( her car ultimately), although she does have that "I'm better than most people on the road" look with her body language and facial expressions when she drives it. And she came from a convertible beatle...Looked like a normal human being back then, no 'tude or anything. But when her husband takes it out(or when they go out and he ends up driving) he looks like a total douche(he's too tall for it and starts to get that smug feeling as well). Personally I think that it is a mundane chick car...With the nose of the SLR McLaren. Why is it that most people look like they are total cocks when they drive one of these...That's exactly the image I wanna portray when I drive a car(especially a convertible)!!!

SLK 55 AMG. Why settle for the 350?
I have never driven one, but was entertained by the top gear piece on them. Auto only is kind of a deal breaker, but if I get real old and want a cruiser, I think they are cool.
