Title of thread: Sick of $500 Payment, Spending Approximately $16K!, need advice on what to get for $16K !
I agree that what the OP is trying to do does not make financial sense unless he goes with something much much cheaper. I also agree with most of the comments in regards to that matter. Fact is he did not ask us for input on that matter. He asked about what options he has at the $16k price range.

Yea but if someone posted "I'm going to shoot myself in the head. What type of bullets should I use" wouldn't you want to help him out?

i don't know what year it was, but i rode in a newer subaru lagacy gt wagon. very roomy, and the biggest sun rood i have ever seen. and with the same engine and turbi set up as the wrx, it could be quite fun.
but really, it you are looking for a car that is as fun as the g, i don't have any idea what you could get that would be dog friendly... maybe some sort of turbo wagon, wrx wagon or an rs6.
but i would say for now keep the g cause you won't get what you want for it right now
