the big hit in finances occurred when the OP drove his G off the lot, he just hasn't realized that loss yet.

^ Yeah, people see these great prices on new and used cars and think they can make it work for them. The problem is that the car they currently own is going to be a great deal for someone else.

I don't think this saves you any money at all. Just admit it, you're bored and want to be a car slut. It's okay. We won't judge.
Haha!

I know this statement doesn't make a whole lot of sense to most people, but I get it. You're absolutely right!

Unless you're saving hundreds of dollars on a monthly payment, reducing the total amount owed on the vehicle by thousands of dollars, or shortening the finance term by years, you're never making a good financial decision when selling one car for another "to be frugal". You're better off sticking with the car you have.

It sounds to me like the OP wants to shave some money off his monthly payments, and the cars he's looking at are not going to give him enough punch in the finances. But, what would I know, I've only been in the car business since 1989 and have tried to do what the OP is attempting numerous times.....it never works.
This is why I am glad I worked in the car business. I hated it, but the knowledge gained was very useful.

I hear you - I see so many good deals nowadays, it's like being a kid in a candy store. The problem is that I can only have so much candy at once, and I'd have to give away my candy to buy some more.

Too much sweets gives you a toothache anyhow. Suck it up and keep the car.

First, how did this comment help the OP?

Second, I guess we all can't be so lucky to never make a decision we regret
I would say something but, well, I'm glad there are others who understand and are willing to explain.

Title of thread: Sick of $500 Payment, Spending Approximately $16K!, need advice on what to get for $16K !

I agree that what the OP is trying to do does not make financial sense unless he goes with something much much cheaper. I also agree with most of the comments in regards to that matter. Fact is he did not ask us for input on that matter. He asked about what options he has at the $16k price range.
