Drive the WRX first, the engine is good but the rest of the car feels sloppy. Shifter, steering, brakes, chassis all felt bad compared to the STI. I think it loses a lot of the sharpness and fun factor. Feels a lot more like a rental car with a strong motor.

if you're looking for a project car for boosting and big hp, look no further than a 1g/2g DSM. You can buy them cheap, build as you like, take your time. If you're looking to compete in the dick measuring contest with your facebook friends, don't waste your energy, I can tell from your post you can't afford it. Get new, friends.

Owned an '04 STi for 7 years, kept it stock.

The S2000 is a better track car, the STi is a better street car (for us not in Califormia..) Choose based on your use, since you don't care about the number of seats or the droptop.

The STi engine is bulletproof, I believe they are still using the same engine that was on my car..so 12 years. Keep it stock or do a very mild tune and it will run forever.

Cons of the STi are the flimsy body panels and cheap interior (still better than a Lancer) but those might have improved since mine. Also my model had low torque at low RPMs, not much different than the S2000, so passing could get annoying if you were in the wrong gear. A simple tune could fix that though,

You could also buy a used STi, there are unmolested ones out there.

All I know is, I have several friends with S2000s. Almost all of them had STi's before...

My cousin also had an S2000 way back when, then sold it for a brand new '06 STi (I know it's not a '16 STi, but the cars aren't THAT different). Got bored with the STi after 5 months and sold it (taking a big depreciation hit I'm sure).

I've had two STIs.

The best thing to do if you can afford it is own an STi along with an S2000. If you completely switch from one or the other, you will wind up missing both cars.

I had an STi with 80k on it running an off-the-shelf stage 1 tune with intake and beat the shit out of it for the better part of a year. Car was completely drama free and incredibly fun to drive in rain/snow. Rev matching downshifts are really easy to do since the engine revs pretty quickly.

But that's just my experience, and I'm sure the FUD will get to you like most people and you will miss out on the STi ownership.

They are pretty different (06 vs 15+), mainly the chassis and interior. STI's have pretty phenomenal resale. I think a sub 30k miles 2012 STI hatch is still low 30's.

Everyone's got valid points.
If I want a fast car, I should may be consider V8 muscles.
I did test drive a v8 mustang but honestly I didn't find it all that wonderful.
It felt a bit clumsy.
Vettes are beautiful cars but z06s with less than 30k miles are still in the mid $40grand range.
That is unfortunately something I cannot afford right now...

I also test drove the EVO x and the STI.
EVO was fast, and it was very exciting to drive but the interior was just disappointing.
And despite STI's reputation for their engine issues, I still trust them more than Mitsubishi.
That is why I am considering the STI.
370zs are cool but it isn't appealing enough to trade my s2k for it.

I'm seriously considering keeping my s2000 though.
It's a lovely car and it's a better financial choice to keep it than getting the STI.
It just sucks because my car won't worth much as I keep racking miles above +100K...
But I guess the STI isn't worth the price tag. I also hate how everyone has the new WRX/STI.
I really like it too though haha

No. Not until Fuji puts a new motor in the STi. It still has the same motor that was in it in 2004.
