We just bought a 16 WRX Limited. The WRX has a much better value over the Sti. It has Subaru's new 2.0 liter engine that can easily make tuned to surpass the STi. I'm not even sure an STi is negotiable. WRXes are for sure.

Yea I heard the STi is still better than the WRX.
The WRX has similar HP numbers as STi but HP isn't really the main selling point of these cars in the first place.
Steering, suspension, Si Drive, adjustable center Diff are just some of the advantages of the STi.

Many claim FA to be a better engine but it isn't tested and tried as the EJ.
Both engines have similar possibilities of failure.

Torque wise, FA seems to have an upper hand, because the EJ comes with a bigger turbo.
But once that turbo hits the EJ, it makes more power.
Ultimately, EJ seems to be more powerful than the FA still, at least according to this article:

You buy the WRX for the engine, you buy the STI for everything else. I really liked the motor in the WRX but hated the rest of the car. The engine the STI is not a bad motor, it's just old.

It's funny because I literally just chatted with a guy with a bone stock 15' with 24k miles on his second engine. Yup, not bad at all.

Since many of you seem to point out valid short comings for the STi,
which would you pick if your life depended on the decision to buy either an STi or EVO X?
And why...

I like the Evo but Mitsubishi is known to be a pos company.

neither. The only shortcoming in the STi is the EJ. And it's just too old and too much bs to deal with. I sold mine because I didn't want to deal with it in the future. Lost 3k on the car in 3 years.

The EVO, the problem is the company that makes it.

Really hoping Subaru debuts a new engine soon.
