Should I pull the trigger

I disagree, between 6000 and 8000 RPMs the engine is far from gutless and you get a nice push in the seats. (well it's small but it's there)
The SI has a fantastic engine for what it is, a low displacement 2.0L engine that gets good MPG and sounds absolutely fantastic for a 20K car.

I love my Si. It makes a great DD and it's plenty of fun for me. It has enough power to make easy passes and have plenty of fun, but can still get great gas mileage on the highway. Enjoy your new Si.

Sounds like the more practical choice was made for DD use. Why have two cars, one with no back seat and the other with piss poor gas mileage (both unpractical in different ways)? Personally, I love my Civic for DD use because I drive more conservative when I am behind the wheel. If I wanna be balls to the wall and go fast, I just pull the S2000 out of the garage.
You can have the RX-8, I have heard nothing good about owning one.

I have to say "gutless" is a relative term. The si has 200hp and weighs maybe 3000 lbs. For the past two years I've been driving a v6 grand Cherokee that has 207 hp and weighs almost 5000lbs. This civic is going to feel like a rocket.
