Should BMW/Mercedes offer de-contented cars?

Yep, this is what the 328i's with pleather seats an no HIDs are for... BMW has made HIDs standard since last year though I think.

The problem is when you want the engine and the chassis, but need to fit four adults into a large car. You just can't buy that in a simple driver-oriented car from BMW any more. Even the "base" 3 series is getting overloaded with tech toys anymore.

Overloaded with b.s. tech gizmos, but no lsd to be had unless you get an M car!



You *used* to be able to order the lowliest 4-cylinder 318i with a limited slip!
